Sometimes it’s challenging to contact the refuge, either due to a heavy workload, loss of coverage, or when we are transporting supplies—various variables, in short. Take a look at these frequently asked questions (FAQ’s); perhaps they’ll answer your queries.

I want to cancel my reservation, what should I do?

We regret that you can’t make it to the refuge, and we appreciate you letting us know so someone else can take your spot. Here’s our cancellation policy wich is one on the most FAQ’s its made: You can cancel, modify the number of spots, or change the date of your booking, always up to 7 days before your reserved date. 100% REFUND MINUS €3 ADMINISTRATIVE FEE.
  • TO CANCEL: Go to the confirmation email for your booking, and at the bottom, there should be a button labeled “Cancel Reservation.“
  • TO MODIFY SPOTS: Send an email to info@refugiovegadeario.es with the subject line MODIFY.
  • TO CHANGE THE DATE: Visit reservarefugios.com, make a new booking for the desired date, and then cancel your previous reservation. Always up to 7 days before your reserved date.
For cancellations made less than 7 days in advance, no refunds will be issued, and date changes will not be allowed. For other issues with your reservation at Refugio Vega de Ario, write to info@refugiovegadeario.es and include INCIDENCIA in the subject line. If no notice is given regarding the cancellation of your reservation, the remaining 100% of the reservation amount may be charged.

We are a group, and one person can’t make it. How do I cancel for that person?

Send an email to info@refugiovegadeario.es with the subject CHANGE IN RESERVATION. Specify the name and date of your reservation and the number of spots you want to cancel. We’ll refund according to the cancellation policy when you arrive at the refuge.

I made a reservation, but the weather forecast is not good, and I won’t be coming. How do I get a refund?

Another FAQ’s.  We’re sorry to hear you won’t be able to make it due to the weather. However, as stated on the website https://reservarefugios.com: ‘Weather conditions are not a reason for a refund of the deposit.’

How’s the weather?

Weather in Picos de Europa is very variable. To check the weather forecast, we use the application https://www.meteoblue.com/ for the Picos de Cornión area.

Can I bring my dog inside the refuge?

No, you can’t. However, we have a kennel for your dog.

Can I camp near the refuge?

The current Prug does not prohibit camping in areas above 1600m. Remember:
  • Set up your tent an hour before sunset.
  • Take down your tent an hour after sunrise.
  • Remember to carry down your trash; the garbage truck doesn’t come up here.

I made a reservation but didn’t enter the vehicle registration for access to Lakes of Covadonga. What can I do?

Simply email us at info@refugiovegadeario.es with the subject LICENSE PLATE. Just provide the reservation name, date, and the vehicle’s license plate. The barrier will open automatically when you arrive.

I made a reservation and entered my license plate, but another vehicle is coming. What should I do?

No problem; email us at info@refugiovegadeario.es with the subject CHANGE LICENSE PLATE. Specify the name and date of the reservation and the new license plate. It’s that simple.

Do I need to bring a sleeping bag or rest shoes?

You must bring a sleeping bag liner; we have fiber duvets and pillows in the refuge. In spring and fall, we have feather duvets. Find more info here We have rest shoes, so you don’t need to carry them.

I’m coming with kids, which route is the easiest to access the refuge?

Undoubtedly, the easiest route is the one starting from Lake Ercina in the Lakes of Covadonga. We recommend starting early in the summer to avoid the heat during the central hours of the day.
